Diamondhead originated in September 1969. In 1970 the first lots were sold. The area land covers approximately 6,400+ acres.

Diamondhead has a shopping center, retirement home, postal unit, fire station, water and sewer system, a variety of businesses, churches, a country club, golf courses, swimming pools, community center, library and homes.

Diamondhead Shopping Plaza area offers all immediate shopping needs: Builder’s supply, supermarket, pharmacy, gift shops, laundry & dry cleaning, liquor stores, beauty shops, restaurant, and bakery.

Other businesses within the commercial area include convenience stores, gas stations, health spas, motels, attorney’s offices, music studio, office supplies, landscaping, florist, child daycare, video rental, building contractors, physicians and Urgent Care facility, veterinarian, hardware stores, realtors, golf store, and physical therapists.

Major shopping malls and outlet malls are located less than an hour away in Slidell, Louisiana and Biloxi and Gulfport, Mississippi.
